And for a While it Stopped

Crouched upon a rock

Where the waves come wash my feet

The wind caresses my soul

While I rule the ocean on my seat.

The warm sun couldn’t be kinder

With the way it smiles on me now.

I return the favour back up to him

While the waves just dance around.

You come right about then

Whispering sweet lies in my ear.

That’s how you showed me the truth

And got me rid of my fear.

This is the sweet life I always wanted to see

It’s the sweet life where I always wanted to be.

On the distant canvas

Was painted a yellow ship

Doesn’t get closer or far

But it’s still making its trip.

No more words to share

In comfy silence we watch the skyline.

The breeze filling my words

While quietly you decline.

You sit right next to me

Whispering sweet lies in my ear.

That’s how you showed me the truth

And got me rid of my fear.

This is the sweet life I always wanted to see

It’s the sweet life where I always wanted to be.

It’s this feeling of presence

That’s worth more than a lifetime

I’m living this moment

Enjoying the fruits of crime.

Why doesn’t it bother me

If the ship is where I belong?

It’s still cruising on the canvas

While I sit and think this song.

Time has stopped for us

Or is it my innocence

It’s a prank the ocean’s playing

Dancing the same… again and again.

The sun still pouring down

Drenching me in its glow

You sense the games too

That the winds play while they flow.

I cannot find you next to me

Whispering sweet lies in my ear.

That’s how you showed me the truth

And got me rid of my fear.

This is the sweet life I always wanted to see

It’s the sweet life where I always wanted to be.
